On top of things as usual, Representative Scott Holcomb has confirmed that the State Board of Education will webcast, live, the DeKalb County Board of Education hearing beginning at 8 AM on Thursday, February 21,2013. Please note this on your calendar.
Representative Holcomb was responsible for the webcast of the first hearing.
Thank you, Scott Holcomb, for taking care of your constituents and all others in DeKalb County!
So the skepticism around this 2/21 meeting actually happening has been proven wrong !
Or… (we have 10 more days – anything can happen…)
The Real School Board Members of DeKalb County. You can’t make this (reality) stuff up.
I hope this isn’t a dumb question….what channel will broadcast it?
Is anyone else having trouble viewing today’s school board meeting?
Gatree, it will be webcast, not on TV.
Anyone blogging about meeting tonite?
Cell phone towers controversy back up……
Sandra Purkette up from Redan High….
Sure – we can set up a thread for tonight’s meeting – stand by.
Not a dumb question. If you are on Comcast, the BOE meeting will be broadcast on Channel 24. You may also watch the board meeting on your computer because it is streamed live. Go to: http://www.dekalb.k12.ga.us/pds-tv24 and click on “Watch Live Click Here.” The meeting was supposed to start at 6 PM. It NEVER starts on time.
Just noticed…Why is Brantley bringing forward an agenda item for an eSIS contract that covers 01/01/2013 through 12/31/2013. Isn’t today 02/11/2013?? Isn’t this an “after the fact” agenda item? Shouldn’t he have brought this forward in November or December — BEFORE the actual period of service began? As many people (teachers, administrators, parents) speak against eSIS, this might have been an opportunity for discussion about the possibility of change. By moving into the second month of the period of service, we’re locked in again.
Gatree: Were you asking about the meeting last night or the one on 2/21? I wondered about that too. Is is being webcast from the State BOE website? Anyone know the deets?

Now, go to the GA Legislature website and read up on the amended Bill allowing for the removal of school boards:

The House Committee on Education offers the following substitute to HB 115:
A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT
To amend Article 3 of Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated,
relating to local boards of education, so as to revise provisions relating to suspension and
removal of local school board members under certain circumstances; to provide for related
matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
